JCC Tri means REVENGE

Guess who is racing this weekend?

Thanks to some bitching and moaning by the masses, the super awesome HFP Racing lowered the fee for the JCC Independence Triathlon to $50. I had actually contemplated registering on Monday, but with the online fees, etc, the total was coming close to $80. That, I just could not afford. I CAN do $50. That means I'm in, and revenge is coming.

Last year, the JCC tri was my first ever sprint length triathlon. I had done one super sprint length in the women's only series prior, but that was it. You can read my race report HERE. While my swim went well, I had some bike malfunctions, and I totally bonked on the run. My final time was over 1:44. This year I am gunning for sub 1:30.

I also love the fact that in last year's race report I mentioned that I wanted to race this in a year and not be Athena - done :-) Love it!

In other news, I went out last night and met Lifetime's Cycle Club for a group ride around Hoover. Unfortunately none of us had a computer on us, so we have no idea how far we went. We rode for about 2.5 hours and got in some great hills and fast flats. Overall, lovely experience. Because my handing is getting more stable, I actually don't mind the group ride thing as much as I thought I would. WOOT!

What plans do YOU have for the Independence Weekend???

PS - Did anyone see that next month's Runner's World cover is a lady in a running skirt?
