Personal Problems

FIRST - The side stitch is GONE. I have even tried to stretch and strain in a way to see if I could feel it in any way shape or form - I can't. It seems to have healed or gone away for now. yay! I am keeping my late April doctor's appointment and will talk to the doc about it then, but for now it seems like all is well. yay.

Second - this is hard to admit. And kind of embarrassing to talk about on the blog. Last night when I got home from work, I attempted to do something that should be enjoyable and fun. Yet, I had a sad realization when the act was done - it's just too big. This is supposed to be fun - it's supposed to fit right and make me feel like I can conquer the world. I'm supposed to be able to ride and ride and ride without pain. Yet, I feel it's just too big - my lady parts were seriously uncomfortable, and getting off and on was downright scary. It felt dangerous, and my wrists even hurt afterwards.

My bike, freakazoids, get your mind out of the gutter - my bike is too big.

It's embarrassing. I swore to my husband that the bike fit, and that it would be fine. Yet, I hadn't really had the chance to get out and ride the bike much at all until this week. When I finally did, I realized that I don't think the bike and I are meant to be together. The cross member is just too tall. I can barely get footing at a stop, and I am just too high up. I even admit that I'm having to stretch a bit to comfortably grasp the breaks. Ugh.

I talked to what I consider a local bike expert (BDD), and I am going to head into roll: for a proper fitting. I have to find out what size and type of bike will work for me.

The good thing is that even with the kind of crappy fit, I was still flying on that bad boy. Once I was out on the trail, I just WHOOSHed. Hills were little problem, and it felt great to go so much faster than the hybrid. What on earth could I do with a bike that actually FIT?

So, here we go again - back to the beginning. I have to find another bike. Boo.

Maybe something can be done, they can bring the stem in or put on a shorter one for the reach, the height, not much can be done with that. Roll will take care of you.

Good luck this weekend

Well, SCORE for the side stitch to be gone, but a super bummer that the bike isn't working out for you. My first nice road bike made me stretch out and caused hip problems. Hopefully they can make it fit you better or set you up with something that fits right. I hope it doesn't end up costing you an arm and a leg.

Good luck with the race and with the fit especially!
