The
Coalition to Unchain Dogs is holding their first ever benefit concert on October 15, 2007 in Durham's Central Park. This is a great cause to support, and the event will be a blast, I'm sure. There is a great line-up of bands, and local vendors will be selling snacks and drinks. But a ticket in advance for $10 or at the door for $12. I already got mine - go buy yours!!!!

Thank you so much for the advertisement!! Obviously I'm biased, but I'm really excited about the bands. I've especially heard really good things about Bull City Band.
Does this organization disapprove of all tethers to dogs or just dogs who spend a majority of the time outdoors on tie-outs?
My dogs never go outside without a "chain" of some sort, they will just plain run away! Well, the pokey puppy Bell will. She will sniff her way right into the next county...
The organization is against people putting their dog on a chain and leaving it outside ALL the time. They advocate for fence building rather than tethering. When the situation calls for a leash, tether or tie out, it's fine. but a dog should not spend their whole life like that! Their mission is:
three-tiered mission:
1. Raise money and build fences for chained dogs in the community
2. Provide support to and educate the community as to why chaining is cruel and dangerous and raise awareness of the physical, mental and emotional needs of dogs
3. Advocate for the passing of laws that disallow or severely restrict the chaining of dogs
Ah, gotcha. Awesome! Sounds like a good org!
